NIS Traffic Analyzer is the commercial successor to the public preview of Traffic Analysis. It delivers major improvements in performance, custom sampling and storage, traffic scenario coverage, and analysis capabilities. NIS Traffic Analyzer supports VPC and transit router (TR) traffic analysis and will progressively replace all public preview features, which are no longer under active development. This topic describes how to migrate to the commercial version.

Internet traffic
Feature limitations of NIS Traffic Analyzer
NIS Traffic Analyzer detects Internet traffic through VPC flow logs, which collect traffic information only from elastic network interfaces (ENIs). As a result, NIS Traffic Analyzer cannot guarantee collection of Internet traffic from IP targets or Classic Load Balancer (CLB) instances.
Migration guide
VPC flow logs support traffic collection at VPC, vSwitch, and ENI granularity, but do not support filtering for Internet traffic only. To get complete Internet traffic analysis data, enable traffic analysis for the required VPCs. NIS Traffic Analyzer parses Internet traffic from VPC flow logs. To analyze traffic for a specific public IP address, enable traffic analysis for the ENI that the public IP address is bound to.
VPC private network traffic
NIS Traffic Analyzer supports private network traffic analysis within a VPC. To use this feature, create an NIS Traffic Analyzer instance, and then add a VPC flow log as a data source.
Cross-VPC traffic
NIS Traffic Analyzer supports cross-VPC traffic analysis through TR and VPC peering connections. To use this feature, create an NIS Traffic Analyzer instance, and then add a VPC flow log or TR flow log as a data source.
Cross-region traffic
NIS Traffic Analyzer supports cross-region traffic analysis through TR and VPC peering connections. To use this feature, create an NIS Traffic Analyzer instance, and then add a VPC flow log or TR flow log as a data source.
Hybrid cloud traffic
NIS Traffic Analyzer supports hybrid cloud traffic analysis for scenarios where a TR connects to a VBR or an ECR. To use this feature, create an NIS Traffic Analyzer instance, and then add a TR flow log as a data source.
