ApsaraVideo Media Processing:Audio and video transcoding fees

ApsaraVideo Media Processing (MPS) charges transcoding fees based on the output file specification and duration. Fees apply to standard transcoding, Narrowband HDTM 1.0, Narrowband HDTM 2.0, and feature API requests.

Transcoding pricing

Note
  • Prices listed are for reference only. Actual prices on the Alibaba Cloud Pricing page prevail.

  • The output specification is determined by the long side and short side of the output video resolution.

    For example, SD (1280×720) means the long side is at most 1280 pixels and the short side is at most 720 pixels. If either side exceeds these limits, the video is classified as a higher specification.

Billing rules

Billing rule

Transcoding fees are based on the output file specification and duration for standard, Narrowband HDTM 1.0, and Narrowband HDTM 2.0 transcoding.

Note
  • If a task fails, no fees are charged.

  • Audio extraction, video extraction, video stitching, video clipping, and watermarking require transcoding and are billed as transcoding tasks. Snapshots and watermarks incur additional API request fees.

Billing cycle

Bills are generated hourly, typically within one hour after each billing cycle ends. Fees are automatically deducted from your account. If you have a resource plan, usage is deducted from the plan first.

Billing methods

Pay-as-you-go

  • Transcoding: Fee per format = Output file duration (rounded up to the nearest minute) × Unit price for that format.

  • API: API fee = Number of successful calls × Unit price of the billable item.

Billing examples

Transcoding billing example

Example: You transcode a 200-minute H.264 video in the UK (London) region between 8:00 and 9:00. Standard transcoding outputs at LD (640×480) and Narrowband HDTM 1.0 outputs at SD (1280×720). Fee = 200 min × USD 0.0033/min + 200 min × USD 0.0339/min = USD 7.44.

Feature API request billing example

Example: 1,000 successful SubmitMediaInfoJob calls in Singapore. Fee = 1,000 × USD 0.01479/1,000 = USD 0.01479.
