ApsaraDB for MongoDB:Upgrading to the Full Version of Audit Log

Last Updated:Mar 30, 2026

When your MongoDB instance needs longer audit log retention or more audit log storage than the free trial edition provides, upgrade to the official edition.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

  • An ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance with audit logging enabled (free trial edition activated before January 6, 2022)

Note

Starting January 6, 2022, the pay-as-you-go audit log feature launched in all regions and new free trial applications ended. For details, see [Notice] Official launch of the pay-as-you-go audit log feature and end of free trial applications.

Usage notes

  • After upgrading from the free trial edition to the official edition, you cannot revert to the free trial edition.

  • The official edition charges based on storage usage and retention period. For pricing details, see the Pricing tab on the ApsaraDB for MongoDB product page.

Upgrade to the official edition

  1. Go to the Replica Set Instances or Sharded Cluster Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance resides. Find the instance and click its ID.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane of the instance details page, choose Data Security > Audit Logs.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Official Edition.

  4. In the Official Edition message, read the prompt and click OK.

Result: The upgrade is complete when the instance status changes from Enabling Audit Logs to Running.
