Mobile Platform as a Service:User tag management

Last Updated:Jun 16, 2026

Message Push Service (MPS) lets you define user tags to target specific groups when pushing messages. When you specify a tag, the message is sent to all users marked with that tag.

A tag describes user attributes such as demographics, interests, and behavior patterns. After you assign a tag to users, you can select all users with that tag to enable targeted message delivery. For example, you can tag female users with "Female" and then push promotions to that group on International Women's Day.

Users and tags have a many-to-many relationship: a user can have multiple tags, and a tag can apply to multiple users.

Create a user tag

Creating a user tag lets you label a group of users who share a common characteristic.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the mPaaS console, and select a target app. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Message Push Service >

    Settings > User tag management.

  2. Click Create user tag. In the displayed Create user tag page, enter a tag name and add a group. Two ways of adding a group are as follows:

    • Tag name: describes the group characteristic for easy management. Any character is supported. Maximum length: 30 characters. The tag name must be unique within an app.

    • Add a group: you can add users directly or import a file containing user IDs.

      • Add directly: enter one or more user IDs in the text box, separated by commas (,). Each ID cannot exceed 60 characters; excess content is not added. Maximum total length: 10,000 characters.

      • Import file: upload a .txt file containing user IDs. Maximum file size: 100 MB. User IDs are separated by line breaks. Each ID cannot exceed 60 characters; excess content is not added. Maximum number of user IDs: 500,000. Duplicate IDs are automatically removed during import.

  3. After you complete the configuration, click Submit. The new user tag is created and displayed in the list.

View a user tag

User tags are listed in reverse chronological order. The list displays the tag name, tag ID, users, creation time, and update time. The following fields are noteworthy:

  • Tag ID: automatically generated after a user tag is created.

  • Users: the number of user IDs in the group.

In the user tag list, click Details in the Operations column to view tag details.

Edit a user tag

In the user tag list, click Edit in the Operations column to modify the tag name or update the users associated with the tag.

For more information about updating users in a tag, see the group configuration described in Create a user tag.

Delete a user tag

In the user tag list, click Delete in the Operations column to delete a user tag. Deleting a tag also removes all associated user information.

Export a user list

In the user tag list, click Export in the Operations column to download the user list for the tag.
