Extend the service period of a subscription ApsaraMQ for MQTT instance through renewal, or adjust instance specifications through upgrades and downgrades to match your workload.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that you have:
A subscription ApsaraMQ for MQTT instance
An Alibaba Cloud account with sufficient permissions to manage the instance
Renew an instance
A notification is sent to the mobile number associated with your account 7 days before an instance expires. If you do not renew the instance upon expiration, the instance is retained for 30 days. After 30 days, the instance and all related resources, including topics and groups, are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Set up auto-renewal (recommended)
Auto-renewal renews instances before they expire, preventing data loss and service interruptions.
Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console. In the top navigation bar, choose .
On the Renewal page, select ApsaraMQ for MQTT_International Site_Subscription in the Instances section, and select the region from the Region drop-down list.
Click the Manual tab. Locate your instance, and then click Enable Auto Renewal in the Actions column.
In the Enable Auto Renewal dialog box, set the auto renewal cycle and click Auto Renew.
Manually renew an instance
To renew an instance before it expires:
Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Instances page, find your instance and click the instance name or Details in the Actions column.
In the Overview section of the Instance Details page, click Renew.
On the Renew page, specify a duration and click Buy Now.
On the Purchase page, click Subscribe to complete the payment.
Upgrade or downgrade an instance
You cannot change the edition of an instance.
Upgrades and downgrades affect different editions differently. The following table summarizes the behavior.

Refund for downgrades
When you downgrade an instance, the price difference between the new configuration and the unused portion of the original subscription is refunded. Vouchers used to purchase the instance are not refunded. For more information, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.
Procedure
To upgrade or downgrade an instance:
Log on to the ApsaraMQ for MQTT console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Instances page, find your instance and click the instance name or Details in the Actions column.
On the Instance Details page, click Upgrade or Downgrade in the Overview section.
On the Upgrade or Downgrade page, select the new specifications and click Buy Now.
On the Purchase page, click Subscribe to complete the payment.
