If your MaxCompute subscription resources are insufficient for or exceed your business's computing demands, you can upgrade your resources to support higher demand or downgrade them to reduce costs.
Upgrade
If your MaxCompute subscription resources cannot meet your business's computing demands, follow these steps to upgrade them.
Log on to the MaxCompute console and select a region in the top-left corner.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
On the Quotas page, find the target quota and click Upgrade in the Actions column.
On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, configure the number of CUs required for the upgrade and click Buy Now to complete the upgrade. The fee for each upgrade order is calculated based on the following formula:
Upgrade order price = (Monthly price of the new configuration / 30 / 24 × Remaining duration) - (Monthly price of the old configuration / 30 / 24 × Remaining duration).
In this calculation, the remaining duration is the time in hours from the upgrade date to the instance expiration date. If the duration is less than one hour, it is calculated as minutes / 60.
On the Purchase page, confirm your order details and click Subscribe to complete the upgrade.
After the upgrade is successful, the upgraded CUs are automatically added to the Default Quota. To allocate them to other quotas, see Manage compute resources and quotas.

Downgrade
If your MaxCompute subscription resources exceed your business's computing needs, follow these steps to downgrade them.
Log on to the MaxCompute console and select a region in the top-left corner.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
On the Quotas page, find the target quota and click Downgrade in the Actions column.
On the Downgrade page, set the number of CUs that you need and click Buy Now to complete the downgrade.

If you downgrade immediately after an upgrade, you may receive a smaller refund for the following two reasons:
The previous order had a discount. For example, a one-year subscription has a 15% discount. If the original price is 154.7 USD, the actual payment is 131.5 USD. The refund for the downgrade is calculated based on 131.5 USD.
A coupon was used for the previous order. When you downgrade, the refund for the old configuration only includes the cash amount, not the coupon amount.
