MaxCompute subscription reserves a fixed compute capacity for your exclusive use, billed in advance. Two resource types are available: multi-zone high availability (HA) computing resources and standard computing resources. Both support SQL, MapReduce, Spark, and MaxFrame workloads.
Compute Unit (CU): The base billing unit for all subscription resources. 1 CU = 1 CPU core + 4 GB memory.
Resource types
Multi-zone HA computing resources
MaxCompute dynamically allocates multi-zone HA resources across multiple availability zones. After purchase, MaxCompute provisions redundant capacity across zones to meet your CU requirements. If a zone-level disruption occurs, resources automatically shift to another zone with no manual intervention.
Multi-zone HA computing resources are not compatible with elastic reserved computing resources billed hourly.
Pair multi-zone HA computing resources with projects that have data storage disaster recovery enabled to achieve zone-level disaster recovery with no data loss and fast job recovery. For more information, see Zone-disaster recovery.
Standard computing resources
Standard computing resources operate within a single zone. After purchase, MaxCompute reserves the specified CU quantity for your exclusive use.
For workloads with stable task volumes, combine subscription reserved computing resources for low-resource tasks with pay-as-you-go resources for high-resource, I/O-intensive tasks. This keeps CU resources available for time-sensitive jobs.
Pricing
Public cloud pricing per CU per month. Long-term subscription discounts apply to real-name verified accounts.
| Resource type | Base price | 1-year | 2-year | 3-year | 4-year | 5-year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-zone HA computing resources | USD 28.6/CU/month | 15% off | 30% off | 50% off | 60% off | 65% off |

After purchase, manage and monitor your computing resources in the MaxCompute console. For details, see Resource observation.
Discontinued options
The following resource types are no longer available for new purchases. If you currently use either type, switch to standard computing resources.
Non-reserved computing resources — Discontinued at 00:00:00 on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (UTC+8). These provided an elastic resource pool in the range [0, purchased quantity], with MaxCompute guaranteeing 50% of the purchased computing capacity throughout each day (1 day of computing capacity = resource quantity × 24 hours).
Managed storage subscription (storage plan 160, storage plan 320, storage plan 600) — Discontinued at 00:00:00 on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (UTC+8).
