Simple Log Service:Usage notes

Last Updated:Aug 25, 2023

Simple Log Service and Classic Load Balancer (CLB) jointly launch the Layer 4 monitoring feature. You can view information about CLB instances by using metrics that are accurate to the second. The metrics include the traffic volume, number of new connections, and maximum number of connections. You can implement finer-grained service monitoring and troubleshooting.

Assets

  • Custom projects and Metricstores

    Important

We recommend that you do not delete the projects or Metricstores that are related to Layer 4 monitoring metrics of CLB instances. Otherwise, the monitoring metrics cannot be sent to Simple Log Service.

  • Dedicated dashboards

By default, Simple Log Service generates two dashboards after you enable the feature.

    Important

We recommend that you do not make changes to the dedicated dashboards because the dashboards may be upgraded or updated at any time. You can create a custom dashboard to visualize query and analysis results. For more information, see Create a dashboard.

    Dashboard

    Description

    CLB Layer 4 Monitoring

Displays the trends of metrics for a CLB instance. The metrics include ports, outbound traffic, inbound traffic, and numbers of connections.

    CLB Layer 4 Data Analysis

Displays the statistics of metrics for a CLB instance. The metrics include ports, outbound traffic, inbound traffic, and numbers of connections.

Billing

  • You are not charged for the Layer 4 monitoring feature.

  • After metrics are collected from CLB to Simple Log Service, you are charged for storage, read traffic, number of requests, data transformation, and data shipping. The fees are included in the bills of Simple Log Service. For more information, see Billable items of pay-by-feature.

Limits

  • Only CLB instances that are configured with a TCP or UDP listener support the Layer 4 monitoring feature.

  • The CLB instance that you use must reside in the same region as the project that you specify in Simple Log Service.
