:What stream ingest protocols does ApsaraVideo Live support?

Last Updated:Oct 31, 2024

This topic describes the stream ingest protocols that are supported by ApsaraVideo Live.

Supported protocols

ApsaraVideo Live supports the Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP), ApsaraVideo Real-time Communication (ARTC), and Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocols for stream ingest. To obtain an ingest URL from the ApsaraVideo Live console, log on to the console and choose Toolbox > URL Generators in the left-side navigation pane. On the page that appears, specify the parameters based on your business requirements and click Generate URLs.

Note: You can also construct an ingest URL according to the concatenation rules. For more information, see Generate ingest and streaming URLs.

  • RTMP is an open protocol developed by Adobe for streaming audio, video, and data between Flash Player and the Flash Communication Server. RTMP works on top of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Mainstream video cloud services all use RTMP as a major stream ingest protocol.

  • ARTC is a protocol developed by Alibaba Cloud for real-time streaming (RTS).

  • SRT is an open source low-latency video transmission protocol that works on top of the UDP-based Data Transfer Protocol (UDT). SRT solves the common issue of high transmission latency associated with TCP.

  • ApsaraVideo Live does not support converting RTMP streams to GB28181 streams.
