Lindorm:A storage and processing solution for IoV data

Last Updated:Mar 19, 2024

This topic describes the data of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and the data storage and processing services available in different IoV scenarios. This topic also describes the characteristics of IoV and why Lindorm is an ideal choice for storing IoV data.

Solution overview

Lindorm is a cloud native multi-model database service. It allows you to store large amounts of data at a low cost and supports the pay-as-you-go billing method. Lindorm also provides various engines including the wide table engine, time series engine, search engine, and file engine to handle data in different models. Lindorm is compatible with the APIs of various open source standards, such as HBase, Cassandra, Phoenix, OpenTSDB, Solr, and SQL. Therefore, it is ideal for the IoV business. The following figure shows the architecture of IoV.

Benefits

  1. IoV enterprises need to collect data from dynamic data sources. Lindorm provides a dynamic schema to meet this requirement of the IoV workload.

  2. When the data collection frequency of the IoV workload rises, the data traffic can be increased to several times or ten times the original traffic. Lindorm provides ultra elasticity and horizontal scalability to handle data spikes for the IoV workload.

  3. The IoV data needs to be stored for a long period of time and some data even needs to be permanently stored. Lindorm provides a high data compression ratio and allows enterprises to separately store hot and cold data. Data can be stored in low-speed and data-intensive storage media such as HDD and Object Storage Service (OSS). This reduces the storage costs.

  4. Lindorm provides a wide table engine, a file engine, and Lindorm Tunnel Service (LTS). It can also be integrated with Data Lake Analytics (DLA). This allows enterprises to store data in a unified manner, archive data in real time, store offline data at a high compression ratio, and efficiently analyze data.

  5. Lindorm uses the log-structured merge (LSM) architecture that allows enterprises to use the BulkLoad feature to return analysis results to Lindorm. This process is efficient and has little impact on online business.
