IoT Platform:Add atomic words

Derived metrics in IoT Platform Data Service require atomic words and time modifiers. The service provides default time modifiers. This document guides you through adding atomic words and viewing time modifiers.

Add atomic words

An atomic word is the smallest measurement unit with business semantics in a metric, such as temperature, humidity, or access UV.

By default, no atomic words are predefined. Add them to suit your business requirements.

  1. On the Instance Overview page of the IoT Platform console, click the ID or alias of the target Enterprise instance.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, select Data Service > Data Metric and click Customize Metric.

  3. On the Customize Metric tab, click Lexicon Management in the upper-right corner.

  4. On the Atomic Words tab, use one of the following methods to add atomic words:

    • Click Add Atomic Words.

      Configure the following parameters and click Complete.

      Parameter

      Description

      Metric Domain

      Choose the metric domain for the atomic word.

      Note

      The metric domain must match the derived metric you want to add.

      Display Name

      Enter the display name for the atomic word.

      Identifier

      Provide a unique identifier for the atomic word.

      Measurement Unit

      Select the unit type and corresponding unit.

      Available units are listed on the page.

      Data Type

      Set the data type and value range. For data type details, click the help button

      Statistical Criterion

      Describe the business function of the atomic word.

    • Click Batch Import from Product Properties.

      On the Batch Import Atomic Words page, select an instance and product, mark the check box next to the desired property name, and click Import.

  5. (Optional) Review your atomic words on the Atomic Words tab.

    You can edit or delete atomic words as needed.

View time modifiers

Time modifiers define specific time ranges within metrics.

On the Lexicon Management page, click the Time Modifiers tab to view the description and usage of each time modifier.
