IoT Platform:Refund Instructions

This topic outlines the notes, methods, and procedures for requesting refunds for subscription-based resource plans on the IoT Platform.

Background information

The IoT Platform manages and operates devices through instances. For details on instances, see Instance Overview. For billing details, refer to Billing Overview.

Refund Notes

  • Prior to requesting a refund, ensure you are familiar with the refund rules and restrictions. For further information, see Unsubscription Rules.

  • The new public instance of the IoT Platform is complimentary, whereas the old public instance operates on a pay-as-you-go model and is non-refundable.

    If the old public instance is no longer in use, you may disable the associated devices as needed. Once all devices are disabled, the instance will cease to incur charges. For more details, see Disable Devices.

  • Refunds for subscription-based enterprise instances on the IoT Platform will result in the immediate release of the instance, and all associated data will be permanently deleted and irretrievable.

Refund Methods

To cancel purchased instance resources, you may submit a ticket.

Refund Flow

  • Only the actual amount that you paid for an order is refundable. The amount that is offset by discounts provided by coupons is not refundable.

    • The refund is returned to the account that paid the order. The following table shows the destinations of refunds that correspond to different payment methods:

      Credit Card

      If you request a refund within five months (150 days) of payment, the amount will be credited back to your credit card account.

      Requests made after five months will result in a refund to your Alibaba Cloud account.

      PayPal

      Refunds requested within six months (180 days) of payment will be returned to your PayPal account.

      After six months, refunds will be credited to your Alibaba Cloud account.

      Paytm

      Refunds requested within one year (365 days) of payment will be returned to your Paytm account.

      Requests made after one year will be credited to your Alibaba Cloud account.

      Available Balance in Your Alibaba Cloud Account

      The refund will be processed as available balance in your Alibaba Cloud account.

    • If the refund fails to be returned to the account that paid the order, the refund is returned to your Alibaba Cloud account.

  • You can receive the refund in 30 business days.
