Bandwidth limits

Internet Shared Bandwidth uses a distributed cluster architecture that distributes traffic and the configured maximum bandwidth evenly across multiple servers. An instance requires multiple connections to reach its maximum bandwidth.

Maximum traffic per connection = Maximum bandwidth of the Internet Shared Bandwidth instance / Number of servers in the traffic cluster

For example, if you configure a maximum bandwidth of 2,000 Mbps and the cluster uses four servers, the maximum traffic per connection is 500 Mbps (2,000 Mbps / 4).

Important
  • An Internet Shared Bandwidth instance may occasionally exceed its configured maximum bandwidth. This limit is continuously refined. We recommend that you set the maximum bandwidth slightly above your actual requirements.

  • If you purchase more than 1 Gbps of shared bandwidth, distributed throttling rules are automatically enabled.

  • The maximum bandwidth is a reference upper limit, not a guaranteed commitment. During resource contention, actual bandwidth may fall below the configured maximum.

Inbound and outbound bandwidth limits:

  • Inbound bandwidth: equals the maximum bandwidth you purchase.

  • Outbound bandwidth: equals the maximum bandwidth you purchase.

For example, if you purchase an instance with a maximum bandwidth of 5 Gbps, the maximum inbound and outbound bandwidth are both 5 Gbps.

EIP requirements

An EIP can be added to an Internet Shared Bandwidth instance only if it meets these requirements:

  • The EIP uses the pay-as-you-go billing method.

  • The EIP is in the same region as the Internet Shared Bandwidth instance.

  • The EIP has the same line type as the Internet Shared Bandwidth instance.
