You are charged the audio and video transcoding fees for VOD media processing based on the output specifications and transcoding duration. This topic describes the pricing and billing rules for transcoding and provides billing examples.

Pricing

Note

The unit prices provided in this topic are only for reference. For actual prices, visit the MPS pricing page.
The transcoding specification (resolution) for billing is determined by the width and height of the output video.
For example, if the long edge of the output video has no more than 1,280 pixels and the short edge has no more than 720 pixels, the transcoding specification for billing is SD (1280 × 720). If either the long edge exceeds 1,280 pixels or the short edge exceeds 720 pixels, the transcoding specification for billing is higher than SD.

Billing

Billing rule

You are charged based on the specifications and length of the output file. The length of the output file is accurate to seconds. If a file fails to be transcoded, no fees are charged.

You are also charged when you use the following features, because transcoding is performed in the process:

Audio extraction
Video extraction
Video splicing
Video editing
Watermarking

Billing cycle

The billing cycle is one hour. The bill for any given hour is usually generated within the following hour. Fees are automatically deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account. If you have a resource plan, it takes precedence for deduction.

Billing method

You are charged on the pay-as-you-go basis. The transcoding fees are the sum of fee for each transcoding specification.

Transcoding fees for a specific specification = Length of the output file × Unit price for the specification. The minimum billable length is 1 minute.

Billing examples

The transcoding feature is used in the US (Silicon Valley) region between 08:00:00 and 09:00:00. Regular transcoding is performed to transcode an H.264 video of 200 minutes in length to an LD video. Narrowband HD^TM 1.0 transcoding is also performed to transcode the same video to an SD video. Total transcoding fees = 200 minutes × USD 0.0084 per minute + 200 minutes × USD 0.0339 per minute = USD 8.46.
