Intelligent Media Services:View channels

The Channels page displays all MediaLive channels in your account. Use this page to monitor channel status, review configurations, and manage channel lifecycle operations such as starting, stopping, modifying, or deleting channels.

Channel list columns

ColumnDescription
Channel ID/NameSystem-generated channel ID (unique identifier) and user-defined channel name. Click the channel ID to open the channel details page.
StatusCurrent channel status: Running or Idle.
Last StartedTimestamp of the most recent start. Displays a hyphen (-) if the channel has never been started.
Running TimeFor a running channel, the elapsed time since the channel was started. For an idle channel, the duration of the last run.
InputsNumber of inputs configured for the channel. A channel can have multiple inputs.
Output GroupsNumber of output groups configured for the channel. A channel can have multiple output groups.
ActionsAvailable operations: Start, Stop, Modify, and Delete. Available actions depend on the channel status.

Channel status and available actions

A channel has one of two statuses: Running or Idle. The following table lists available actions for each status.

Modify a channel name

The channel name is set during channel creation. You can update it at any time while the channel is in the Idle status.

  1. On the Channels page, click the channel ID in the Channel ID/Name column.

  2. On the channel details page, locate the Basic Information section.

  3. Click Modify to update the channel name.

Manage inputs

A channel supports multiple inputs. The channel must be in the Idle status to add or remove inputs.

Add an input

  1. On the Channels page, click the channel ID in the Channel ID/Name column, or click Modify in the Actions column.

  2. On the channel details page, go to Channel Configuration > Added Inputs.

  3. Click Add.

Remove an input

  1. On the Channels page, click the channel ID to open the channel details page.

  2. Go to Channel Configuration > Added Inputs.

  3. Click the delete icon next to the input that you want to remove.

Manage output groups

A channel supports multiple output groups. The channel must be in the Idle status to add or remove output groups.

Add an output group

  1. On the Channels page, click the channel ID in the Channel ID/Name column, or click Modify in the Actions column.

  2. On the channel details page, go to Channel Configuration > Added Output Groups.

  3. Click Add.

Remove an output group

  1. On the Channels page, click the channel ID to open the channel details page.

  2. Go to Channel Configuration > Added Output Groups.

  3. Click the delete icon next to the output group that you want to remove.

Create, start, stop, and delete channels

Use the Actions column on the Channels page or the channel details page to manage channel lifecycle operations.

  • To create a channel, click Create Channel on the Channels page.

  • To start, stop, modify, or delete a channel, click the corresponding button in the Actions column.

  • To manage a channel from the details page, click the channel ID in the Channel ID/Name column. From the channel details page, you can modify inputs, output groups, channel status, and channel name.

When a channel is in the Running status, only the Stop action is available in the Actions column. You can still view channel information from the details page. All other operations require the channel to be in the Idle status.
