Intelligent Media Services:SetDefaultStorageLocation

Last Updated:Aug 05, 2026

Sets the default storage path for temporary files. The default storage address is used for temporary file storage generated during editing when using the ICE online editor or integrated WebSDK, such as audio files generated by intelligent configurations. Setting the default storage address prevents confusion when users are prompted to specify storage paths for various temporary resources during editing. If you access ICE editing capabilities through APIs, you can flexibly set the path in the API request, and this default path does not take effect.

Operation description

-Intelligent Media Services can use Object Storage Service (OSS) or ApsaraVideo VOD storage. Activate the corresponding service based on the storage type you need. The differences are as follows:

  • ApsaraVideo VOD storage: ApsaraVideo VOD provides a one-stop audio and video Solutions that includes video storage, media asset management, and CDN playback services. When you store media assets in ApsaraVideo VOD, Intelligent Media Services enhances VOD capabilities, enabling rapid development and launch of video services based on the APIs provided by ApsaraVideo VOD.

  • Object Storage Service: OSS is a massive, secure, low-cost, and highly durable cloud storage service provided by Alibaba Cloud. You can develop multi-scenario audio and video services based on the capabilities of Intelligent Media Services and OSS.

-You can also configure the storage address in the console. For details, see Configure storage address.

-Storage fees are billed in OSS or ApsaraVideo VOD based on the storage address you configure. For details, see Media asset storage billing.

RAM authorization

The table below describes the authorization required to call this API. You can define it in a Resource Access Management (RAM) policy. The table's columns are detailed below:

  • Action: The actions can be used in the Action element of RAM permission policy statements to grant permissions to perform the operation.

  • API: The API that you can call to perform the action.

  • Access level: The predefined level of access granted for each API. Valid values: create, list, get, update, and delete.

  • Resource type: The type of the resource that supports authorization to perform the action. It indicates if the action supports resource-level permission. The specified resource must be compatible with the action. Otherwise, the policy will be ineffective.

    • For APIs with resource-level permissions, required resource types are marked with an asterisk (*). Specify the corresponding Alibaba Cloud Resource Name (ARN) in the Resource element of the policy.

    • For APIs without resource-level permissions, it is shown as All Resources. Use an asterisk (*) in the Resource element of the policy.

  • Condition key: The condition keys defined by the service. The key allows for granular control, applying to either actions alone or actions associated with specific resources. In addition to service-specific condition keys, Alibaba Cloud provides a set of common condition keys applicable across all RAM-supported services.

  • Dependent action: The dependent actions required to run the action. To complete the action, the RAM user or the RAM role must have the permissions to perform all dependent actions.

After you activate ApsaraVideo VOD, you must enable the address before you can use it. For more information, see Manage storage buckets.

  • user_oss_bucket: user-owned private bucket. Before adding an OSS storage address, you must activate OSS and create a storage bucket. For more information, see Create a bucket in the console.
