Thank you for your continued support of Alibaba Cloud IDaaS.
To provide you with a better service, we have made major optimizations to our technical architecture, product positioning, and billing system. These changes enable us to offer a long-term, cloud-native, and standard service. As a result, we are launching a new version of IDaaS.
We provide a feature comparison between the new and old versions and invite you to activate the new version for free to experience the differences for yourself. Use the following information to determine the best approach for your needs. We will provide any support you require.
The new version includes many updates and is not backward-compatible. Therefore, you cannot automatically upgrade legacy 1.x versions to the new version. Some less common features are not supported in the new version, and an automatic migration tool is not available.
Timeline
The following table describes the key dates for the version transition:
Date | Event |
March 2022 | The new 2.0 version was launched for public preview. The purchase entry point was switched to the new version. The purchase entry point for the legacy version was closed by default. However, legacy versions can still be used normally. Existing customers of the legacy version can still make new purchases, upgrade, or renew. For more information, see the plans below. |
September 2022 | Version 2.0 became commercially available. It provides a high-quality, stable service with continuous iterations and enhancements. |
Service discontinuation | The 1.x Standard Edition service will be discontinued. The Enterprise Edition is not affected. If the features or migration schedule of the new version do not meet your business needs, contact us. Before your paid instance is officially discontinued, the IDaaS team will send formal notifications by text message and email. We will provide a long migration period to avoid disrupting your services. |
Change plans for existing 1.x customers
Existing 1.x Free Edition customers
The new version offers more features for free. We recommend that all customers of the legacy Free Edition migrate to the new version as soon as possible.
The validity period for legacy (1.x) Free Edition instances of Identity as a Service (IDaaS) EIAM is adjusted to three months. Instances are automatically released upon expiration. To continue using your Free Edition instance, you must manually renew it in the console one month before it expires. Each renewal extends the service for three months. The final renewal date is December 30, 2025. After this date, all legacy Free Edition instances will be released. This change affects only legacy Free Edition instances of IDaaS. Instances of the new version and paid legacy instances are not affected.
To upgrade a legacy Free Edition instance to the Standard Edition, you must first contact the IDaaS team for assistance. Otherwise, you will not be able to purchase or upgrade your current Free Edition instance.
Existing 1.x Standard Edition customers
Requirement | Plan |
Switching to the new version | You can refer to Feature comparison between previous and new versions to evaluate whether the features of the new version meet your requirements. If the new version meets your requirements, you can start using it immediately. |
Purchasing a new legacy version instance | This option is mainly for customers who already have a legacy instance. To purchase a legacy version instance, you must contact us for special arrangements. |
Renewing a legacy version instance | Legacy version instances will be gradually unpublished. For now, you can still renew your legacy instances. We recommend that Standard Edition customers migrate to the new version as soon as possible. |
Upgrading a legacy version instance | Existing instances can still be upgraded. This process is not affected. For example, the user count can range from 100 to 300. |
Discontinuing the service | If the new version does not meet your requirements and you no longer want to use IDaaS, you can submit a ticket. The IDaaS team will work with our after-sales support team to process a prorated refund for the remainder of your service period. |
Continued service for the 1.x Standard Edition
We will continue to ensure the reliability and security of the existing service. The Service-Level Agreement (SLA) remains unchanged, and we will continue to handle your after-sales requests. We will also release security patches and fixes for major bugs as needed.
Existing 1.x Enterprise Edition customers
Instances for existing Enterprise Edition customers are not affected by this update. You can continue to use your existing Enterprise Edition instances without any time limit.
We will continue to provide support for Enterprise Edition instances.
