Subscription (resource plans) is a billing method that allows you to pay for resources before you use these resource plans. Resource plans allow you to reserve resources and obtain resources at lower costs. This topic describes how to purchase Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR) resource plans for different business scenarios.

Usage notes

  • You can purchase HBR resource plans based on the total capacity of resources that you require. For example, you need to purchase storage resource plans for database backup to back up databases that are hosted on Elastic Compute Service (ECS). You can purchase resource plans based on the total storage capacity of all ECS-hosted databases. You do not need to purchase a separate resource plan for each ECS-hosted database. You can also purchase storage resource plans based on the total storage capacity of all databases in other backup scenarios.
  • You cannot purchase resource plans to offset traffic fees because you are billed for traffic based only on the pay-as-you-go billing method. For more information, see Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR) Pricing.

Scenarios

HBR resource plans are divided into two categories. One category is used to back up ECS-hosted databases. The other category is used in other scenarios. The following tables describe the details.
Note In the following tables, the check mark (✓) indicates that you must purchase the resource plan in the scenario. The cross sign (×) indicates that you do not need to purchase the resource plan in the scenario.
  • Scenarios in which ECS-hosted databases are backed up

    The scenarios include the backup of self-managed MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server databases that reside on ECS instances. The backup of SAP HANA databases is not included.

    Purchase the resource plan based on the capacity of the database. The capacity of the resource plan is 1.5 times the capacity of the database. If the backup storage you use exceeds the capacity of your resource plan, you can purchase a new resource plan to cover the excess usage.
