Realtime Compute for Apache Flink is available in multiple regions and zones across the globe. This page explains the concepts of regions and zones, helps you choose the right deployment location, and lists all supported regions.
Key concepts
Region — A geographical area where Alibaba Cloud data centers are deployed. Each region corresponds to a city; for example, China (Beijing) means the data center is in Beijing, China.
Zone — A physically isolated area within a region, with independent power supply and network infrastructure. Faults are isolated between zones to prevent cascading failures and maintain service continuity.
Fault isolation does not apply to large-scale disasters or widespread power outages.
Zones within the same region are connected over a low-latency internal network. Zones in different regions are isolated from each other.
Usage notes
The region and zone of a workspace cannot be changed after creation. Choose carefully before creating a workspace.
Resource availability varies by region. You can adjust the availability of resources in different regions based on the resources consumed by your business. If resources in a zone are sold out, check the buy page for current availability.

What do I do if resources are sold out?
Select a different zone or region on the buy page. If no resources are available after switching, wait and try again — Alibaba Cloud replenishes resources dynamically.
