Elasticsearch:Create an Alibaba Cloud Logstash instance

Last Updated:Aug 19, 2026

This topic describes how to create an Alibaba Cloud Logstash instance.

Prerequisites

You have created a VPC and a vSwitch.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Logstash buy page.

  2. Configure the instance parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Billing Mode

    • Pay-as-you-go: We recommend pay-as-you-go instances for development or functional testing.

You can manually release a pay-as-you-go instance on the console.

    • Subscription: A prepaid billing method that offers discounts. You can request a refund within five days of purchase. After five days, refunds are not supported.

Both manual renewal and auto-renewal are supported. For more information, see Renew an Alibaba Cloud Logstash instance. You cannot manually release a subscription instance on the console.

    Geography

For information about the supported regions, see the table below.

    Zone

For information about the zones supported in each region, see the table below.

    Network Type

Only Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is supported.

    Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

Select a VPC in the selected region.

    Important

To access the Logstash instance from an ECS instance, both instances must be in the same VPC.

    Virtual Switch

Select a vSwitch in the same zone as the Logstash instance.

    Important

The selected vSwitch must have 50 or more available IP addresses.

    Cluster Type

    Only Standard Edition is supported.

    Logstash Version

Versions 7.4 and 6.7 are supported.

    Specifications

Alibaba Cloud Logstash provides instance families with vCPU-to-memory ratios of 1:1, 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8. The following specifications are supported for each instance family. The options on the buy page are subject to change:

    • 1:1 family: 4 vCPUs/4 GB, 8 vCPUs/8 GB, 12 vCPUs/12 GB, 16 vCPUs/16 GB

    • 1:2 family: 2 vCPUs/4 GB, 16 vCPUs/32 GB, 32 vCPUs/64 GB

    • 1:4 family: 2 vCPUs/8 GB, 4 vCPUs/16 GB, 8 vCPUs/32 GB, 16 vCPUs/64 GB

    • 1:8 family: 2 vCPUs/16 GB, 4 vCPUs/32 GB, 8 vCPUs/64 GB

    Disk Type

Choose between Standard SSD and Ultra Disk:

    • Standard SSD (default): provides up to 2 TB of storage capacity. It is ideal for online analysis and search scenarios that require high IOPS and fast data response.

    • Ultra Disk: provides up to 5 TB of storage capacity. This cost-effective option is ideal for log processing and analysis scenarios that involve large volumes of data.

    Storage Space per Node

    • Standard SSD: A minimum of 20 GB and a maximum of 2,048 GB (2 TB).

    • Ultra Disk: Up to 5,120 GB (5 TB).

      Note

You can expand an ultra disk up to 2 TB. Disks provisioned at 2.5 TB or larger are created as non-expandable RAID 0 arrays.

    Nodes

The number of data nodes to purchase. Valid values: 1 to 20.

    Duration

This parameter is displayed only when Billing Mode is set to Subscription. The default is one month, but you can select a duration from 1 to 9 months, or from 1 to 3 years.
