When you create a system disk that is larger than its source image, the operating system cannot automatically access the additional storage capacity. This guide explains how to extend the partition and file system on your instance to use the disk's full capacity.
For example, if you create a 100 GB system disk from a 20 GB image, the operating system can initially only access the first 20 GB. If you do not extend the file system, your applications cannot use the additional 80 GB, which can impact your services.
