ENS:Overdue payments

Last Updated:Dec 25, 2025

This topic describes the reasons why Alibaba Cloud Edge Node Service (ENS) is suspended and the renewal rules.

Impacts of overdue payments

If your Alibaba Cloud balance and vouchers combined are insufficient to settle a payment, Alibaba Cloud considers that your account has an overdue payment. Overdue payments may cause service interruptions. We recommend that you regularly check your account balance and ensure that your account has sufficient funds to ensure business continuity.

  • Overdue payment alerts

After an overdue payment occurs, the system sends notifications to remind you of the overdue payment by text messages or emails.

  • Service suspension

If your account has overdue payments, your ENS resources have the following limits:

    • Pay-as-you-go resources: Pay-as-you-go instances are automatically stopped when you have overdue payments. If you do not settle overdue payments within a specific period of time, your resources will be deleted and cannot be restored.

      • If an overdue payment on your account is not settled within 15 days, the service is automatically suspended. If the payment remains overdue for 30 days, all your pay-as-you-go resources are detached and released.

After the service is suspended due to an overdue payment, the retention status of ENS resources is as follows:

        Resource type

15 days after the payment becomes overdue

30 days after the payment becomes overdue

        Computing resources (vCPUs and memory)

ENS retains the computing resources (vCPUs and memory), but you cannot start the instances.

ENS releases your computing resources (vCPUs and memory) and permanently deletes your service data. The data cannot be recovered.

        Block storage

        • ENS retains disks and the data on the disks.

        • ENS retains local disks and the data on the local disks.

        • ENS releases disks and the data on the disks, and permanently deletes your service data. The data cannot be recovered.

        • ENS releases local disks and permanently deletes your service data. The data cannot be recovered.

        Public IP

        • ENS retains static public IP addresses.

        • EIPs attached to ENS instances are not affected.

        • ENS releases static public IP addresses.

        • ENS detaches EIPs.

        Snapshots

        • All snapshots and custom images are retained. However, you cannot use existing snapshots to create new disks or custom images.

        • You cannot manually create snapshots. Automatic snapshots are no longer created. Attempts to create custom images from instances fail because new snapshots cannot be created.

        • If you top up your account to settle the overdue payment, you can continue to use existing snapshots, and automatic snapshot policies are automatically re-enabled.

        Important

Although you cannot use existing snapshots after a payment becomes overdue, you are still charged for your existing snapshot size. Therefore, your overdue payment amount increases.

All your snapshot resources are permanently deleted, and the data cannot be recovered.

        Important

You are still charged for snapshots before the snapshot data is cleared. If you no longer require the snapshot service, make sure that you delete the snapshot data.

    • Subscription ENS resources:

      • If your account has an overdue payment for 15 days, you can still use your existing subscription ENS resources, but the following limitations apply:

        • You cannot perform operations that incur fees, such as purchasing new resources, upgrading or renewing instances, or increasing disk capacity.

        • If a subscription ENS instance has a pay-as-you-go disk attached, or if you use pay-as-you-go public bandwidth, the corresponding disk and public bandwidth services become unavailable.

  • Payment settlement and service resumption

After you top up your account, the service is resumed immediately.
