Subscription instances require renewal to extend their usage period. The renewal fee equals the purchase price of a new instance. Pay-as-you-go instances do not require renewal — maintain a sufficient account balance to keep them running.
Renewal methods
| Method | When to use |

| Auto-renewal | Prevent service interruptions for long-running instances. The system renews automatically based on your selected renewal period. |
| Manual renewal | Renew once, or when your instance expires the next day and auto-renewal has not yet taken effect. |
Renewal timing rules

Auto-renewal takes effect the day after you enable it. If your instance expires the next day, manually renew it to avoid service interruption.

If you manually renew an instance before an auto-renewal payment is processed, the system reschedules the next auto-renewal to occur before the new expiration date.

Enable auto-renewal
Auto-renewal can be enabled at three points: when creating an instance, through the Renewal Management console, or from the instance details page.
Enable auto-renewal when creating an instance
When creating a subscription instance, turn on the Enable Auto-renewal switch.
After you enable auto-renewal, the system renews the instance automatically based on the selected renewal period. For example, selecting a 3-month renewal period charges you for three months at each renewal.
Enable auto-renewal in the Renewal Management console
Use this method to enable auto-renewal for one or more instances at once.

Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

In the top menu bar, hover over Expenses and click Renewal Management.

On the Resource Renewal page, filter for the instances you want to renew by instance ID, status, time, product, and region.

Enable auto-renewal:

Single instance: In the Actions column of the target instance, click Enable Auto-renewal.

Multiple instances: Select the instances, then click Enable Auto-renewal at the bottom of the page.

In the dialog box, set the renewal duration.

Click Enable Auto-renewal.
Enable auto-renewal on the instance details page

Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

In the navigation pane on the left, choose EMR Serverless > StarRocks.

In the top menu bar, select a region.

Click the name of the target instance.

In the Basic Information section of the Instance Details page, click Auto-renewal.

Click On, select an auto-renewal duration, and then click OK.
Manually renew an instance

Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

In the navigation pane on the left, choose EMR Serverless > StarRocks.

In the top menu bar, select a region.

In the Actions column of the target instance, click Renew.

In the dialog box, set the renewal duration.

Click OK and complete the payment as prompted.
