Manager Agent is an agent used by E-MapReduce (EMR) StarRocks Manager to connect to a StarRocks instance. By default, Manager Agent runs on your frontend nodes (FEs). Activate Manager Agent on dedicated resources when FE performance or management stability is a concern.
When to activate
Activate Manager Agent separately if either condition applies:
-
Your FE nodes are under heavy load: Management traffic from StarRocks Manager competes with query processing on the same nodes.
-
StarRocks Manager stability is a priority: Isolating Manager Agent prevents FE performance fluctuations from affecting management operations.
If neither condition applies, the default configuration (Manager Agent co-located with FEs) is sufficient.
Billing
Manager Agent resources are billed by compute unit (CU). See Billable items for pricing details.
