EMR Serverless Spark offers resource plans that cover the cost of pay-as-you-go computing resources, providing a more flexible billing model. This topic explains EMR Serverless Spark resource plans.
Usage notes
-
Resource plans cover only pay-as-you-go fees for compute resources in Serverless Spark workspaces. After purchase, these fees for all workspaces in the same region are deducted from the resource plan first.

Resource plans cannot cover pay-as-you-go usage incurred before you purchase the plan.

Any usage exceeding the resource plan quota or occurring after the plan's validity period is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Resource plans do not support renewal or upgrade/downgrade.
Purchase and pricing
Purchase resource plan
You can purchase and stack multiple resource plans. If your account has multiple resource plans, the plan that expires soonest is used first.

Go to the EMR Serverless Spark workspace page.

Log on to the E-MapReduce console.

In the left-side navigation pane, choose EMR Serverless > Spark.

On the Spark page, click Purchase Resource Plan.

Set parameters such as Region, resource plan capacity, Validity Period, and Quantity, and then click Buy Now.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.

If a price discrepancy arises from other promotions, the price on the purchase page is final.

If your monthly pay-as-you-go cost for a Serverless Spark workspace in the Singapore region is about USD 2,500, consider purchasing resource plans as follows:

Calculate the compute consumption in
CU·Hfrom your monthly cost. The formula is:Total monthly cost / Pay-as-you-go unit price = USD 2,500.02 / (USD 0.067106/CU/hour) = 37,261 CU·H. -
A conservative option is to purchase three
10,000 CU·Hresource plans and one5,000 CU·Hresource plan. -
After you purchase the resource plans, the monthly cost is:

Resource plan cost: Cost of three 10,000 CU·H plans and one 5,000 CU·H plan = (3 × 570.4) + (1 × 301.98) = USD 2,013.18.

Pay-as-you-go cost for remaining resources: 2,261 × 0.067106 = USD 151.67.

Estimate based on compute consumption
Assume you have a Serverless Spark workspace in the Singapore region with a cumulative compute consumption of 25,500 CU·H over the last 30 days. You can retrieve this information by using the Resource Monitoring feature or by calling the GetCuHours operation. If your monthly consumption is expected to be similar, consider purchasing resource plans as follows:

A conservative option is to purchase two 10,000 CU·H resource plans and one 5,000 CU·H resource plan.

After you purchase the resource plans, the monthly cost is:

Resource plan cost: Cost of two 10,000 CU·H plans and one 5,000 CU·H plan = (2 × 570.4) + (1 × 301.98) = USD 1,442.78.

Pay-as-you-go cost for remaining resources: 500 × 0.067106 = USD 33.55.

Total cost: USD 1,442.78 + USD 33.55 = USD 1,476.33.

View usage and set alerts
View usage details
After you purchase a resource plan, you can monitor its usage in Expenses and Costs to manage the plan effectively.

Navigate to the Resource Instances page under Expenses and Costs on the Alibaba Cloud Management Console.

For Resource Type:, select Resource Packages. You can then view statistics for resource plans whose instance name contains
emapreduce_sparkpostcu_dp. The statistics include the plan status, remaining quota, and validity period. -
Click the Details tab to view the detailed deduction records for the resource plan.
Set a quota alert
You can set a quota alert for a resource plan. An alert is triggered when the remaining quota of the plan falls below a specified threshold.

Navigate to the Resource Instances page under Expenses and Costs on the Alibaba Cloud Management Console.

For Resource Type:, select Resource Packages. On the Instances tab, click Set Remaining Quota Alert in the upper-right corner. Specify the remaining quota threshold that triggers the alert, and then click OK.
Set expiration notifications
You can configure how you receive notifications when a resource plan is about to expire. Alibaba Cloud can notify you by internal message, email, or text message.

In the top navigation bar of the Alibaba Cloud console, click the
icon. In the left-side navigation pane, choose . -
On the Product Message tab of the Common Settings page, find Notifications of Product Expiration and select your preferred notification methods and recipients.
Unsubscription
Any unused quota in a compute plan automatically expires at the end of its validity period and is non-refundable.
To unsubscribe from a resource plan that you have not used within five days of purchase, go to the Unsubscription Management page under Expenses and Costs in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console. On the Resource Plan tab, select the plan and complete the unsubscription.
