Each service and component in your E-MapReduce (EMR) cluster reports a health status based on the results of multiple health check items. Use health status to quickly identify whether a service or component is running normally and whether any action is required.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
-
An EMR cluster. For more information, see Create a cluster
Health status reference
A service or component can be in one of five states:

Icon

Status

Meaning

Action required

<colgroup></colgroup> <colgroup></colgroup> <colgroup></colgroup> <colgroup></colgroup>

Good

The service or component is running as expected.

None.

Warning

The service or component is running as expected, but hidden risks are detected.

Review the health check items to understand the risks and address them before they escalate.

Abnormal

The service or component is unavailable due to serious issues.

Troubleshoot immediately. Check the health check items for details on what failed.

Stateless

No process is running on the component — either it was stopped manually or is still being installed. Health checks are not performed in this state.

None, unless the component should be running.

Unknown

A process is running on the component, but health check results cannot be retrieved.

None if your workloads are unaffected. Investigate if you observe related issues.
