E-MapReduce:Create a cluster based on a cluster template

Last Updated:Mar 26, 2026

Cluster templates let you reuse a saved configuration to create new clusters without re-entering the same settings each time. This is useful when you need multiple clusters with identical configurations.

Note

If you create a subscription cluster from a template, the cluster is not provisioned until you pay for the order. After you click OK, find the cluster on the EMR on ECS page and complete payment before provisioning starts.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

Create a cluster from a template

  1. Log on to the E-MapReduce (EMR) console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click EMR on ECS.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group for the cluster. and select a resource group

  4. On the EMR on ECS page, click Manage Cluster Templates in the upper-right corner.

  5. In the Manage Cluster Templates panel, find the template you want to use and click Create Cluster in the Actions column.

  6. In the Create Cluster message, click OK. The new cluster appears on the EMR on ECS page. Its name follows the format $Template name$+Timestamp.

    Note

If you created a subscription cluster, complete payment on the EMR on ECS page. The cluster moves out of the Starting state once provisioning begins.
