Resource groups for scheduling are used to schedule and run tasks. When you activate E-MapReduce (EMR) Workflow, a free default resource group for scheduling is provided. You can also purchase paid resource groups if the default one does not meet your requirements. EMR Workflow has been available for commercial use since January 10, 2024.

Resource groups for scheduling support the pay-as-you-go billing method.

Fees of a resource group for scheduling = Unit price of resources × Resource quantity × Billing duration

When you first activate EMR Workflow, a free default resource group for scheduling is provided. This resource group is permanently free of charge.

Tasks submitted to YARN: If you enable the Submit to YARN switch when you configure a workflow, all workflow tasks run on the core or task nodes of an EMR cluster.

Tasks not submitted to YARN: If you do not enable the Submit to YARN switch when you configure a workflow, all workflow tasks run directly on the scheduling resource group.
Paid resource groups for scheduling
If the default resource group does not meet your requirements, you can purchase a paid resource group. The following table describes the available specifications.
