Due to technological advancements in the open source community and EMR product feature upgrades, E-MapReduce has established a lifecycle policy. According to this policy, certain versions of Alibaba Cloud EMR on ECS are scheduled for End of Marketing (EOM) on October 21, 2025, and service support for them will end at the corresponding End of Service and Support (EOS) time. We recommend that you upgrade your EMR cluster instances of discontinued versions to avoid business disruptions.

Impact
From the EOM date, discontinued versions will no longer support creating new clusters, including features that generate new clusters such as "cluster clone" and "cluster template".
From the EOM date, features of discontinued versions will no longer be updated.
For EMR clusters that are using discontinued versions, EMR will continue to provide technical support within the technical support scope until the version EOS. For more information about the technical support scope, see Technical support scope and contact methods.

If you are using a cluster with a discontinued version, we recommend that you upgrade your cluster to a higher version released by EMR on ECS, or migrate to EMR Serverless products such as EMR Serverless Spark and StarRocks.
