Due to technological advancements in the open source community and EMR product feature upgrades, E-MapReduce (EMR) has established a lifecycle policy for EMR on ECS. Under this policy, the versions listed below reach End of Marketing (EOM) on October 20, 2025, and End of Service and Support (EOS) on October 20, 2026. Upgrade your EMR cluster to avoid business disruptions.

End of Marketing (EOM): The version is no longer available for new workloads. New clusters cannot be created using this version, including through cluster clone and cluster template. No further feature updates are released for this version.
End of Service and Support (EOS): Technical support for the version ends. EMR no longer provides technical support for clusters running this version.

If your cluster is running one of the versions listed above, take one of the following actions before October 20, 2025:

Upgrade to a supported EMR on ECS version. Choose a version released after the ones listed in this notice.

Migrate to an EMR Serverless product. Options include EMR Serverless Spark and StarRocks.
