Releasing a cluster permanently deletes its namespace and all software services deployed in that namespace. Physical resources are not released.

This action is irreversible. Back up any critical data before proceeding.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
A cluster in the Initializing, Running, or Idle state
Release the cluster
Log on to the EMR console.
On the EMR on ACK page, find the cluster you want to release and click Release in the Actions column.
In the message that appears, click OK.
The cluster is released. Its namespace and all associated software services are deleted. Physical resources allocated to the cluster remain unaffected.
