Alibaba Cloud allows you to view and manage quotas of your Alibaba Cloud services. You can obtain usage information, request a quota increase, and set alert rules for quotas. This topic describes how to query Elastic IP Address (EIP) quotas, increase EIP quotas, and set alert rules for quotas.
Background information
Quota Center allows you to manage the quotas of various Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. Quota Center is integrated with multiple Alibaba Cloud services, including EIP. If you use multiple Alibaba Cloud services and want to manage the quotas of all these services on the same page, we recommend that you use Quota Center.
In addition to Quota Center, EIP also provides a Quota Management page in the Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) console. If you need to manage only EIP quotas, you can manage quotas on the Quota Management page in the VPC console.
Limits
By default, only Alibaba Cloud accounts are authorized to manage quotas in Quota Center. If you want to allow a RAM user to manage quotas, you must first grant the RAM user the AliyunQuotasFullAccess permission. For more information, see Authorize a RAM User.

Create an alert rule for a quota
EIP allows you to create threshold-based alert rules for some quotas. You can specify thresholds for quota usage or remaining amount. When the quota usage or the remaining amount reaches the threshold, the system sends an alert notification to the callback URL set in the alert rule through an HTTP POST request. After you receive the notification, you can request a quota increase in advance to avoid unexpected business interruptions.
EIP allows you to create alert rules for the eip_quota_instances_num quota. This quota specifies the number of EIPs that each Alibaba Cloud account can have.
Create an alert rule for a quota in the Quota Center console
- Log on to the Quota Center console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Alert.
- On the Quota Alert page, click Create Quota Alert.
- On the Products with General Quotas page, choose , find the quota, and click Create Alert in the Actions column.
- In the Create Quota Alert panel, set the parameters and click OK.
Parameter Description Alert Name The name of the alert rule. Alert Type The type of the alert rule. Valid values: - Alert for Used Quotas: The alert rule is created for quota usage.
- Alert for Available Quotas: The alert rule is created for the available quota.
Threshold Type The type of the alert threshold. Valid values: - Numeric Value: The alert threshold is a numeric value.
- Percentage: The alert threshold is a percentage.
Threshold Number The alert threshold. You must set the threshold based on the settings of the Alert Type and Threshold Type parameters.- If you set the Threshold Type parameter to Numeric Value, set the threshold based on the following requirements:
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Used Quotas, and the quota usage reaches the specified threshold, an alert notification is sent. The alert threshold must be greater than the current usage of the quota.
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Available Quotas, and the available quota is smaller than the specified threshold, an alert notification is sent. The alert threshold must be smaller than the current available quota.
- If you set the Threshold Type parameter to Percentage, set the threshold based on the following requirements:
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Used Quotas, and the quota usage reaches the specified threshold, an alert notification is sent. Value range: (50%, 100%].
- If you set the Alert Type parameter to Alert for Available Quotas, and the available quota is smaller than the specified threshold, an alert notification is sent. Value range: (0%, 50%].
Alert Callback The webhook URL. Quota Center sends an alert notification to the specified URL by using an HTTP POST request. For more information about the examples and parameters of alert callback requests, see What is the request content of an alert callback?
Note- By default, Quota Center sends an alert notification about 15 minutes after the specified alert threshold is reached.
- If your alert callback is integrated with the webhook of a DingTalk chatbot, you must set the custom keyword of the DingTalk chatbot to Alert and then copy the webhook URL as the URL of the alert callback.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Alert. On the Quota Alert page, view the details about the alert rule.
- Optional. View the result of an alert callback. If you set the Alert Callback parameter, you can view the related alert callback record and application after the alert callback succeeds. The application is automatically submitted to increase the related quota.

Create a quota template
After you create a quota template, the quota template is enabled by default. If the management account adds a member to the resource directory, the quota template automatically submits a quota increase request for the member. The quotas for existing members remain unchanged. You can use a quota template to increase multiple quotas at a time. Quota templates help you improve the efficiency and automation of quota management across your organization.
