This solution uses ESA's network optimization technology to accelerate cross-region network access and reduce latency for for users in the Chinese mainland.
This feature is available as an add-on for the Enterprise plan.
Background
For business or regulatory reasons, some enterprises deploy their websites and servers across regions. However, these sites must often serve a large volume of access requests from the Chinese mainland. Due to geographical distance, network architecture, and cross-border transmission limitations, such access often suffers from high latency, slow speeds, and unstable connections. In some cases, service interruptions can occur, severely impacting user experience and business continuity. The request path before you enable the Access Optimization (Chinese Mainland Network) feature is shown in the following figure:
Solution overview
Connect to ESA and enable Access Optimization (Chinese Mainland Network) to reduce network latency for users in the Chinese mainland who access sites outside the Chinese mainland.
ESA routes requests from the Chinese mainland to its point of presence (POP) in Hong Kong, where they enter the ESA global acceleration network.
The ESA global acceleration network and protocol stack optimization allow users to access origin servers outside the Chinese mainland quickly and reliably.
The request path after the feature is enabled:
Configuration
In the ESA console, choose Websites. Then, in the Website column, click the target site.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose .
In the Optimization section, find Access Optimization (Chinese Mainland Network) and click the button on the right to enable the feature, as shown in the following figure.

Verify the configuration
Obtain the POP IP address of the accelerated domain name.
Use the nslookup command
Open the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (macOS/Linux).
Enter nslookup -type=A accelerated_domain_name . For example, nslookup -type=A www.example.com .

Use the ping or dig command
On Windows: Press Win+R, enter cmd in the Run dialog box, and then click OK to open the Command Prompt.
On macOS: Open Terminal.
Run a command.
In the window, enter
ping accelerated_domain_name. For example, ping www.example.com.
In the window, enter
dig accelerated_domain_name. For example, dig www.example.com.
Use the IP address tool in the CDN console to check the location of the IP address.
Open the IP Address Tool.
Enter the IP address that you retrieved in Step 1 and click Check.
If the region in the result is
Hong Kong, the configuration is successful.
Notes
When IPv6 access is enabled, IPv6 requests from users in the Chinese mainland cannot be accelerated.
The Access Optimization (Chinese Mainland Network) feature is available only when the acceleration region is set to Global (Excluding the Chinese Mainland).
If your domain name or network optimization POP is under a DDoS attack, ESA automatically switches requests to a protection POP. Client connections may be interrupted during the switchover. The Access Optimization (Chinese Mainland Network) feature is temporarily unavailable and resumes after the DDoS attack ends.
If you have purchased a Best-effort DDoS Protection instance, access traffic from the Chinese mainland is automatically switched to the Best-effort DDoS Protection POP.
If you have not purchased Best-effort DDoS Protection instance, traffic is switched to a Basic DDoS Protection POP.
