Edge Security Acceleration:Change the billing method

Last Updated:Jun 15, 2026

You can switch the DCDN billing method to better match your business needs.

Guidelines

DCDN supports switching between billing methods. The procedure depends on your current and target methods, as described below.

Note
  • If you purchase an outbound data transfer plan for DCDN, you must select the pay-by-data-transfer billing method. Otherwise, you cannot use the plan to offset fees.

  • Once you submit a request to change the billing method, you cannot cancel it or submit another request until the change takes effect.

  • You are charged based on the original billing method until the new one takes effect.

  • The procedure for changing the billing method for WebSocket and IP Application Accelerator (IPA) is the same as for DCDN.

Change request

Procedure

Switching from pay-by-peak-bandwidth to pay-by-data-transfer

Change the billing method in the console.

Other change requests, such as switching from pay-by-data-transfer to pay-by-peak-bandwidth

Contact your Alibaba Cloud account manager or contact us for assistance. Alibaba Cloud reviews your request based on service security and resource availability. If approved, the configuration option is enabled in your console.

Note

To switch to the pay-by-peak-bandwidth billing method, your peak bandwidth over the last 30 days must be greater than 5 Gbps.

Change billing in the console

  1. Log on to the DCDN console.

  2. On the Overview page, in the Overview section on the right, locate the service you want to modify and click Change.

  3. Review when the new billing method takes effect, and then click OK.

  4. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, select the new billing method, read and select the DCDN Terms of Service, then click Buy Now.

Effective rules

Please contact your Alibaba Cloud account manager or consult with us through Alibaba Cloud's other channels to change the metering method. If approved, a configuration option is enabled in the console. After you submit the configuration, the change is complete. The new metering method takes effect after the current billing cycle ends:

  • If you switch from the pay-by-data-transfer method to another, the change takes effect at 00:00 the next day.

  • If you switch from a daily billing method, such as pay-by-peak-bandwidth, to another, the change takes effect at 00:00 the next day.
