Enterprise Distributed Application Service (EDAS) is an end-to-end PaaS platform that integrates with Alibaba Cloud services to provide infrastructure, microservice governance, monitoring, operations and maintenance (O&M), and permission management capabilities. Each integration uses one of two models: service integration or component integration. This topic describes the available integrations, how each model works, and the billing implications.
Integration models
EDAS supports two integration models. The model determines where you manage each cloud service.
| Model | Where you manage it | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Service integration | In the cloud service's own console, separate from EDAS | Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) |
| Component integration | Directly in the EDAS console, with no need to switch consoles | Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS), SchedulerX |
Service integration -- The cloud service runs independently. Create and configure its resources in the service's own console, then import or connect them to EDAS. For example, create a VPC or ACK cluster in their respective consoles before using them with EDAS.
Component integration -- The cloud service is embedded into EDAS as a built-in component. Manage its resources and settings within the EDAS console without switching to another console.

Service integrations
The following cloud services integrate with EDAS as independent services. Manage each service through its own console.
Infrastructure
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) | Network isolation for clusters and applications to improve application security | Create a VPC first. VPC and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) | Kubernetes environment for deploying EDAS applications | Create an ACK cluster first. ACK and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Elastic Compute Service (ECS) | Virtual machine environment for deploying EDAS applications | Create an ECS instance in the ECS console and import it into EDAS, or purchase one directly in the EDAS console. ECS and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Express Connect | Connections over Express Connect circuits for hybrid cloud architectures | Create a connection first. Express Connect and EDAS are billed separately. |
Microservice governance
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Microservices Engine (MSE) | Registration and configuration centers (open source Nacos, Eureka, and ZooKeeper) and microservice gateways | Create an MSE instance first. MSE and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Service Mesh (ASM) | Service mesh for deploying multi-language applications | Free of charge. |
Operations and maintenance
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Log Service | Log collection for applications | Activate Log Service first. Log Service and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Server Load Balancer (SLB) | Traffic distribution across application instances | Create an SLB instance first. SLB and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Auto Scaling | Automatic scaling of application instances based on load | The Auto Scaling service is free. You are separately charged for EDAS and the provisioned resources such as ECS instances and SLB instances. |
Permission management
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Resource Access Management (RAM) | Permission management for EDAS | Free of charge. Activated by default. |
| Resource Management | Permission management through resource groups | Free of charge. Activated by default. |
Component integrations
The following cloud services are embedded into EDAS as built-in components. Manage them directly in the EDAS console.
Microservice governance
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Application High Availability Service | Throttling and degradation for applications | Activate Application High Availability Service first. Application High Availability Service and EDAS are billed separately. |
| Performance Testing (PTS) | Stress testing for applications | Free of charge. |
Application monitoring
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS) | Application performance monitoring | Basic monitoring through the EDAS component is free. To use the full ARMS feature set, enable advanced monitoring, which is billed separately. |
| Managed Service for Prometheus (Prometheus) | Metrics monitoring for Kubernetes clusters and multi-language applications | Free of charge as an EDAS component. |
| Managed Service for OpenTelemetry | Distributed trace queries for multi-language applications | Free of charge as an EDAS component. |
Operations and maintenance
| Cloud service | What it provides | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| SchedulerX | Task scheduling for applications | Free of charge. |
| Application Configuration Management | Configuration management for applications Note Application Configuration Management is deprecated. The Application Configuration Management features already integrated into EDAS continue to work as expected. | Free of charge. |
