Elastic Compute Service:Modify the bandwidth of an EIP

Last Updated:Aug 17, 2026

An ECS instance in a virtual private cloud (VPC) can be associated with an elastic IP address (EIP) to access the Internet. If you use an EIP, you can modify the peak bandwidth and billing method of the EIP. This feature applies to both subscription instances and pay-as-you-go instances.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Instances & Images > Instance.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.

  4. Find the target instance. In the Actions column, choose image.png > Upgrade/Downgrade > Modify EIP Bandwidth.

  5. Modify the EIP based on its billing method.

    Pay-as-you-go billing for EIP

On the EIP | Modify Configuration page, configure the following purchase information, select the Terms of Service, and click Buy Now.

    • Peak Bandwidth: Set the peak bandwidth. You can increase or decrease the peak bandwidth, but you cannot set it to 0 Mbps.

    • Traffic: Select the metering method for Internet traffic. Based on your requirements, select Pay-by-traffic or Pay-by-bandwidth.

    Note

If you only modify the peak bandwidth, the new bandwidth takes effect immediately and you do not need to restart the instance. If you change the billing method for traffic:

    • The billing method change takes effect after 00:00 the next day.

    • Before the new billing method takes effect, you cannot submit other modification requests, such as changing the peak bandwidth.

    Subscription billing method for EIPs

On the EIP (Subscription) International | Modify Configuration page, set the bandwidth, select the Terms of Service, and click Buy Now.
