Elastic Compute Service (ECS) Bare Metal Instance is a new computing service developed based on Alibaba Cloud's in-house next-generation virtualization. This topic describes how to create an ECS bare metal instance.
Background information
You can create an ECS bare metal instance the same way you create a regular ECS instance. This topic describes only the basic settings specific to creating ECS bare metal instances. For information about the general settings, see Create an instance on the Custom Launch tab.
Procedure
Go to the ECS instance buy page.
Configure the parameters described in the following table.
Parameter
Description
Billing Method
The billing and pricing rules as well as the status changes of resources vary based on the billing method. Valid values:
Region
Regions are geographic locations where Alibaba Cloud data centers are deployed. Select the nearest region to your geographic location to reduce latency. After an ECS instance is created, you cannot change its region. For more information, see Regions and zones.
Network and Zone
Specify a virtual private cloud (VPC). VPCs are logically isolated from one another, provide enhanced security, and support features such as Elastic IP Address (EIP), IPv6, and Elastic Network Interface (ENI).
A region consists of multiple isolated locations known as zones. A zone is a physical area with an independent network and power supply. Instances in the same zone share the network and have minimal latency.
Instance
In the Architecture row, click ECS Bare Metal Instance or GPU/FPGA/ASIC and select an ECS Bare Metal Instance type. For more information, see Overview of instance families.
NoteThe available instance types vary based on factors, such as the region. You can view the instance types available in each region on the Instance Types Available for Each Region page.
Image
Images contain the required information to run instances. Alibaba Cloud provides various images. All available images are displayed in the Image section of the instance buy page.
Configure the parameters in the Storage, Bandwidths & Security Groups, and Management sections.
For more information, see Create an instance on the Custom Launch tab.
In the right-side pane, specify a subscription duration if you set Billing Method to Subscription and confirm that the configurations are correct.
Read and agree to ECS Terms of Service and ECS Refund Policies and Procedure and click Create Order.
NoteECS Refund Policies and Procedure is available only for subscription ECS instances.
It takes 3 to 5 minutes to create an ECS instance. You can view its status on the Instance page in the ECS console. Once created, the instance is in the Running state.
