Burstable instances are a cost-effective instance type for entry-level computing scenarios with burst performance requirements. They use CPU credits to meet burst performance requirements. The minimum memory is 0.5 GiB.
This topic covers the configuration steps specific to burstable instances. For all other parameters, see Create an instance on the Custom Launch tab.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that you have:
An Alibaba Cloud account with permissions to create Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances
Confirmed that your target region supports burstable instance types (see Instance Types Available for Each Region)
Create a burstable instance
Go to the ECS instance buy page.
Configure the parameters in the following table. The Instance parameter is burstable-specific; the others apply to all instance types but are included here for reference.
Parameter Description Billing Method Select Subscription, Pay-as-you-go, or Spot Instance. The billing method controls charging rules and instance lifecycle behavior. Region Select the region closest to your users to reduce latency. The region cannot be changed after the instance is created. For more information, see Regions and zones. Network and Zone Use a virtual private cloud (VPC) for logical isolation, enhanced security, and support for Elastic IP Address (EIP), IPv6, and Elastic Network Interface (ENI). A zone is a physical area within a region with independent network and power infrastructure. Instances in the same zone have minimal latency. Instance On the All Instance Types tab, go to the Architecture row, select Shared from the x86 drop-down list, then select a burstable instance type. Available types vary by region. For the full list, see Overview of instance families. To enable unlimited mode during instance creation, select Enable Unlimited Mode for Burstable Instances. You can also enable it after the instance is created. For details, see Enable the unlimited mode. Image Select an image that contains the operating system and runtime environment for your instance. For guidance, see Select an image. Configure storage, bandwidth, security group, and management settings. For parameter details, see Parameters.
In the right pane, review the configuration summary and set the subscription duration. Confirm all parameters meet your requirements.
Read the service agreements, select ECS Terms of Service, and click Create Order. If you have already signed the agreement, skip this step.
ECS Refund Policies and Procedure applies to subscription instances only.
Instance creation takes 3 to 5 minutes. Go to the Instance page in the ECS console to monitor progress. The instance is ready when its status changes to Running.
