Marketplace images are provided by Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) on the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. These images contain an operating system pre-configured with specific software environments and applications, such as a PHP runtime and its management tools. You can use a Marketplace image to create an ECS instance to get a ready-to-use environment for tasks such as website deployment, application development, and visual management. This saves time, letting you use your ECS instance immediately. This topic describes how to use a Marketplace image to create an ECS instance and to replace the operating system of an existing instance.
Create an instance from a Marketplace image
You can use one of the following methods to create an ECS instance from a Marketplace image. For detailed instructions and parameter descriptions about creating an ECS instance, see Create an instance by using the wizard.
-
Method 1: Select a Marketplace image during instance creation.

-
Method 2: Go to the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace to find and purchase the desired Marketplace image and ECS instance.
Click an image title to view its details page. This page provides information about the image and its user guide, including details such as account credentials and required security group rules.
Replace an operating system using a Marketplace image
When you replace the system disk of an existing ECS instance, you can use a Marketplace image to replace the operating system.
When you replace the system disk, on the Replace Operating System page, click the Marketplace Image tab and select the desired image. For detailed instructions, see Replace the operating system (replace the system disk).

Before an ISV publishes an image on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, they must ensure the image meets specification requirements and passes compatibility tests on different ECS instance types.
