This topic describes how to resolve the issue that the following error message appears when you connect to a Windows Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance by using Remote Desktop: There is a problem with your license for Remote Desktop and the session will end in 60 minutes.
Problem description
After you restart a Windows instance,When you use Remote Desktop to connect to an instance of Windows, an error message for Remote Desktop license issues is displayed.
Cause
In the Local Group Policy Editor of the Windows instance, the Specify the licensing mode for the RD session Host Server. option is not set to Per Device.
Solution
Connect to the Windows instance by using Virtual Network Computing (VNC).

Go to the Local Group Policy Editor window.
Right-click the icon and select Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter
gpedit.msc
and click OK.
In the Local Group Policy Editor window, choose Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Licensing, and then double-click Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode.
In the Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode window, select Enabled. In the Specify the licensing mode for the RD session Host Server section, select Per Device and click OK.
