Add nodes to a Data Transmission Service (DTS) dedicated cluster when its resources can no longer keep up with workload demands.
When to scale out
Scale out your cluster immediately if any of the following conditions are met. Delaying action when the cluster is under-resourced can cause performance degradation, instability, or reduced disaster recovery capability.
| Metric | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Available DTS units (DUs) | 4 or fewer |
| CPU utilization | 80% or higher |
| Memory usage | 80% or higher |
| Disk usage | 80% or higher |
Constraints
Node count can only be increased, not decreased.
All nodes in a dedicated cluster must have the same storage space.
Billing
New nodes are billed daily from the date you add them. Their expiration date aligns with the existing nodes in the cluster, so all nodes expire together.
Charge for new nodes in the month of scale-out:
Charge = Total monthly price ÷ 30 × Remaining days in the month
Example: A two-node cluster was created on March 1, 2022 with a one-month subscription. On March 15, the cluster was scaled out. The new nodes were charged for the remaining days of the month using the formula above. All nodes—old and new—expired on March 31, 2022. After renewal, all nodes are billed on a monthly basis.

Procedure
Go to the Dedicated Cluster page.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where your cluster is located.
On the Cluster Task page, open the configuration change page using one of these methods:
Find the cluster and click the
icon in the Actions column, then select Scale out Cluster.Find the cluster and click its ID or click Details in the Actions column. On the Cluster Management page, click Scale out Cluster.

On the configuration change page, set the following parameters:
Parameter Description Cluster Type of DTS Instance Select Dedicated Cluster. Number of Dedicated Cluster Nodes Enter the total node count after scale-out. The value must be greater than the current node count and cannot exceed 100. Read and accept the Terms of Service, then click Buy Now.
On the Purchase page, complete the payment.
