This topic explains how to troubleshoot when Data Transmission Service (DTS) fails to obtain schemas from a source database during task configuration.
Problem description
When you configure a DTS task and select database objects, DTS fails to obtain schemas from the source database and returns the following error: Get source schemas failed, reason[null].
Possible causes
- The whitelist is missing or incorrectly configured.
- The database account does not have the required permissions.
- The RAM user that you use to log on to the console to configure the task lacks the required permissions.
Solutions
- Check and correct your whitelist configuration. For more information, see Whitelist DTS IP ranges for your user-created database or .
- Verify the permissions for the database account and grant the necessary permissions for the source and destination databases. For more information, see Prepare the database accounts for data migration.
- Check the permissions of your RAM user and grant the required permissions based on the source database's access type. For more information, see Grant permissions to DTS to access cloud resources, Authorize a RAM user to manage DTS, and Custom policies for DTS.
