Data Transfer Plan:Set a quota alert for a data transfer plan

Last Updated:Jun 10, 2026

Set a quota alert for a General-purpose data transfer plan so that the system notifies you by text message and email when the remaining quota of the General-purpose data transfer plan reaches the specified threshold.

Background

Quota alerts notify you when the remaining data in a General-purpose data transfer plan drops to a set percentage. This helps you purchase a new General-purpose data transfer plan before the current one is exhausted, avoiding higher on-demand data charges from General-purpose data transfer plan depletion.

By default, an alert is sent when usage of a General-purpose data transfer plan reaches 80%. You can customize the threshold. For example, for a 10 GB plan with the threshold set to 10%, the system sends an alert when the remaining quota of the General-purpose data transfer plan drops to 1 GB.

Important

Alerts may be delayed. Bills reflect actual usage. Purchase new data transfer plans in advance based on your usage.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Manage Reserved Instances.

  3. On the Manage Reserved Instances page, select Resource Plan.

  4. Click Set Remaining Quota Alert. Next to Set Remaining Quota Alert Uniformly, turn on Enable Alert, select a percentage from Remaining Quota Proportion, and click OK.

You can also set the remaining quota percentage for a specific General-purpose data transfer plan individually from the resource plan list.
