Bastionhost:Apply for a free trial

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

• An Alibaba Cloud account with identity verification completed

• No prior purchase or use of Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost — accounts associated with the same company or mobile phone number are treated as one account. If you have previously purchased Bastionhost or used the Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost free trial, you are not considered a first-time user.

If you have multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts belonging to the same user, or hold certain special account types, you may not be able to purchase Bastionhost at 0 USD. The actual price at checkout applies. The validity period of this free trial activity is 7 days.

Step 1: Submit a free trial application

1. Go to the Bastionhost free trial application page and log in to your Alibaba Cloud account.Visit the Bastionhost free trial application page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

2. Click the Bastion Host product card. On the Bastionhost 7 Days Free Trial Form page, fill in the application information and click Submit.

   After successful submission, proceed to Step 2: Activate the free trial.

Step 2: Activate the free trial

After submitting your application, activate your Bastionhost instance on the purchase page.

1. Go to the Bastionhost purchase page and log in to your Alibaba Cloud account.Visit the Bastionhost purchase page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

2. Configure the trial specifications:

   • Region and zone: Select the region where your Bastionhost instance will reside. Choose the same region as the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances you plan to manage — you cannot change the region after purchase. If Bastionhost and your ECS instances are in different regions, make sure network connectivity is in place. To check an ECS instance's region, visit the ECS console.

   • Version: Select Enterprise Edition for the trial. Enterprise Edition runs in active-active dual-engine mode, offering higher reliability and more features. Basic Edition runs in single-engine mode and covers basic O&M (operations and maintenance) and audit needs. For a full comparison, see Version feature comparison.

   • Assets: Select 20 Assets (Trial Use).20 Assets (Trial Use)

   • Resource group: Select the resource group to assign to Bastionhost.

   • Quantity: Select 1.

   • Duration: Select 1 Week (the only option for the trial).

3. Click Buy Now and complete the payment. For qualifying accounts, the total cost is 0 USD.

4. On the Payment Completed page, click Management Console. In the upper-left corner, select the region where your Bastionhost instance is located.

5. Click Enable to the right of the instance. In the Enable panel, select a virtual private cloud (VPC), vSwitch, and security group, then click OK.

   Important

   You cannot change the VPC after this step. Choose carefully.

After enabling, the instance status changes to Creating. The creation process takes approximately 20 minutes.
