Bastionhost offers a 7-day free trial for first-time users. This page walks you through applying and activating your trial instance.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
An Alibaba Cloud account with identity verification completed
No prior purchase or use of Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost. Accounts associated with the same company or mobile phone number are treated as one account. If an account has previously purchased Bastionhost or used the Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost free trial, it is not considered a first-time user.
If you have multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts belonging to the same user, or hold certain special account types, you may not be able to purchase Bastionhost at 0 USD. The actual price at checkout applies. The validity period of this free trial activity is 7 days.
Step 1: Submit a free trial request
Go to the Bastionhost product trial application page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.
On the Bastionhost - Product Trial Application page, fill in the application information and click Submit.
Step 2: Activate the free trial
After you submit the request, follow these steps to activate the Bastionhost free trial.
Go to the Bastionhost purchase page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.
Configure the trial specifications as described in the following table.

Region and Zone
Select the region where the Bastionhost instance resides.
NoteThe region of a Bastionhost instance cannot be changed after it is selected. Choose the region with caution. Deploy the Bastionhost instance in the same region as the asset that you want to manage, such as an ECS instance.
If the Bastionhost instance and the ECS instance are in different regions, ensure that they can connect to each other over the network.
To view the region of an ECS instance, log on to the ECS console.
Singapore
Version
Bastionhost is available in Enterprise and Basic editions, which differ in architecture and features. The Enterprise edition is recommended for the trial.
Enterprise edition: Runs in active-active mode with a dual-engine architecture. This edition provides higher reliability and stability, and covers more scenarios.
Basic edition: Runs in single-engine mode. This edition meets basic O&M and audit requirements.

Assets
The number of assets managed by Bastionhost. The trial specification is 20.

Resource Group
Select a resource group for the Bastionhost instance.
Default Resource Group
Quantity
The number of Bastionhost instances to purchase. For the trial, the quantity is 1.

Duration
The subscription duration of the Bastionhost service. For the trial, you can only select 1 Week.

Click Buy Now and complete the payment.
The configuration fee is 0 USD for Alibaba Cloud accounts eligible for the free trial.
On the Payment Complete page, click Management Console to go to the Bastionhost console. In the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where you deployed the Bastionhost instance.
Click Run to the right of the Bastionhost instance. In the panel that appears, select a VPC, a virtual switch, and a security group for the Bastionhost instance, and then click OK.
After the instance is enabled, its status changes to Creating. This process takes about 20 minutes.
ImportantThe VPC cannot be changed after it is selected. Make sure that you select the correct VPC.
