Alibaba Cloud DNS:Intranet DNS resolution upgrade instructions

Last Updated:Jul 09, 2025

This topic explains the changes resulting from the upgrade of the intranet DNS resolution service from the original Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone product.

Changes in product pricing

1. Service upgrade

The intranet DNS resolution service introduced here is an enhanced version based on the original Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone product, with a completely redesigned product console interface. If you have not used the new features in the new console (such as creating acceleration domain names, creating cache retention domain names, enabling traffic analysis, adding intranet resolution lines, etc.), you can switch between the new and old consoles. If you have already used the new features, you cannot return to the old console.

2. Comparison of features before and after the upgrade

Feature module

Sub-feature

Old version-PrivateZone

New version-Intranet resolution

Built-in authoritative module

Custom domain name

Available, as authoritative Zone.

Available. New "acceleration area" authoritative domain names with minimal resolution latency, supporting custom line resolution and weighted resolution.

Cloud product domain names

Available, as cloud product authoritative Zone.

Available

Cache

Cache retention domain names

Not available

Available, supporting persistent cache retention for hot spot domain names, greatly reducing resolution latency and providing disaster recovery protection when public network resolution fails.

Cache clearance

Not available

Available, clearing cached resolution records to obtain the latest resolution.

Forward

Forward resolution

Available, as "Resolver".

Available, as the "Forward Management" feature.

Traffic analysis

Traffic analysis

Not available

Available, providing end-to-end visual analytics capabilities for intranet resolution.

Logging

Available, enabled in some regions.

Available, enabled in all regions, allowing intranet resolution logs to be stored in SLS.

3. Changes in billing items

Feature module

Billing item

Old version-PrivateZone

New version-Intranet resolution

Built-in authoritative module

Number of user domain names

0.015USD/domain/day (up to 100,000 domain resolution records)

For the same account, the total number of built-in authoritative domain names is counted (the actual billing quantity needs to be calculated based on the number of resolution records), each built-in authoritative domain name is charged at 0.015USD/day. The specific billing calculation logic is as follows:

(1) Regular area domain names: If the number of resolution records <= 100,000, it is calculated as 1 domain name. If the number of resolution records > 100,000, the actual billing quantity is determined by rounding up the result of actual number of resolution records/100,000 (the system default quota is 100,000 resolution records, if you need to expand capacity, you need to submit a ticket to contact us for a quota increase)

(2) Acceleration area domain names: If the number of resolution records <= 1,000, it is calculated as 1 domain name. If the number of resolution records > 1,000, the actual billing quantity is determined by rounding up the result of actual number of resolution records/1,000 (the system default quota is 100,000 resolution records, if you need to expand capacity, you need to submit a ticket to contact us for a quota increase)

Number of user domain name resolution requests

0.0045USD/10,000 requests

For the same account, the total number of queries for all built-in authoritative domain names is counted and charged at 0.0045USD/10,000 requests

(1) Regular area domain names: The request volume is calculated based on the query volume of DNS back-to-source (TTL expiration)

(2) Acceleration area domain names: The request volume is calculated based on the query volume directly triggered by terminal devices (cloud queries are not affected by TTL)

Cache

Number of cache retention domain names

Not available

0.015USD/domain/day

Number of cache clearance operations

Not available

15USD/operation

Forward

Number of outbound endpoint source IP addresses

0.15USD/IP/hour

0.15USD/IP/hour

Number of DNS resolution requests forwarded by outbound endpoints

0.004USD/10,000 requests

0.004USD/10,000 requests

Traffic analysis

Number of resolution log analysis entries

Not available

For the same account, each resolution request generates one resolution log entry. The total number of resolution log entries used for calculation is counted and charged at 0.015USD/10,000 entries

(1) Calculation rule for total number of resolution log entries: Total number of resolution log entries = Global traffic resolution requests + Authoritative traffic resolution requests + Cache traffic resolution requests + Forward traffic resolution requests + Recursive traffic resolution requests

(2) After enabling the traffic analysis feature, the resolution log collection feature is enabled by default, and no additional fees are charged for resolution log collection
