Dear Alibaba Cloud user, to continuously improve product experience and service stability, Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone will upgrade the built-in authoritative and traffic analysis services. This upgrade will not affect your normal service usage or impact the effectiveness of your DNS resolution.
Effective time
Starting from April 30, 2025 (UTC+8), new users of Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone will create zones as accelerated zones by default. By April 30, 2026 (UTC+8), all built-in authoritative zones in regular zones will be switched to accelerated zones.
Starting from June 30, 2025 (UTC+8), Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone will release a new mode for traffic analysis service log collection. New traffic analysis features will use the new mode for log collection and billing. By April 30, 2026 (UTC+8), all users who have enabled traffic analysis services will be switched to the new mode for log collection and billing.
Change details
1. Built-in authoritative zone architecture upgrade
Alibaba Cloud DNS will simplify the architecture of built-in authoritative zones to improve service stability. Built-in authoritative zones of regular zones will no longer be available.
Starting from April 30, 2025 (UTC+8), new users of Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone will no longer distinguish domain types when creating built-in authoritative zones. All created zones will be accelerated zones.
By April 30, 2026 (UTC+8), all users' built-in authoritative zones in regular zones will be switched to accelerated zones. Accelerated zone built-in authoritative zones support capabilities such as line-specific resolution and load balancing, with real-time resolution changes and better service performance. After switching to accelerated zones, resolution request volume may increase, leading to higher usage costs. You can enable NSCD on ECS to avoid increased resolution requests caused by the lack of local resolution cache on ECS.
2. Traffic analysis service log collection new mode upgrade
Starting from June 30, 2025 (UTC+8), when Alibaba Cloud DNS PrivateZone users enable traffic analysis service, the new mode will be used to collect logs. The global module log information will be more comprehensive, and detailed logs for built-in authoritative, forwarding, caching, and recursion modules will no longer be printed. Analysis capabilities based on these detailed logs will also no longer be provided.
By April 30, 2026 (UTC+8), all users who have enabled traffic analysis services will be switched to the new mode for log collection. This upgrade will greatly reduce the number of traffic analysis log entries and service usage costs by merging log collection information. We welcome you to experience this new feature.
Under the new mode, the price for traffic analysis resolution log analysis entries will be adjusted from 0.015 USD/10,000 entries to 0.03 USD/10,000 entries.
