What's changing
To improve domain name resolution security and prevent malicious occupation of DNS resources, which can cause domain name conflicts when adding new domains, Alibaba Cloud DNS Public Zone Free Edition will begin detecting and removing invalid DNS domain name resolution data according to the timeline above.
How invalid domain names are identified
A domain name and its resolution data are considered invalid only if both of the following conditions apply:
The domain uses Public Zone but is not registered with Alibaba Cloud.
The domain's DNS server addresses are not configured to point to Public Zone server addresses.
Invalid domain names and their resolution data are deleted after 30 consecutive calendar days of meeting these conditions.
How you'll be notified
Alibaba Cloud monitors your domain's DNS server address configuration. If your domain is identified as having invalid DNS resolution data for 1, 10, or 20 consecutive days, the system sends reminders via email and internal messages, asking you to configure the correct DNS server addresses. To receive these notifications, subscribe to Alibaba Cloud DNS notifications in Basic Receiving Management.
What you need to do
To retain your domains and their resolution records, complete one of the following actions before the system deletes the resolution data:
After configuring resolution data in Alibaba Cloud DNS, update your domain's DNS server addresses at your domain registrar to use the DNS server addresses assigned by Alibaba Cloud DNS Public Zone. For details, see How to Smoothly Migrate Domain Name Resolution to Alibaba Cloud DNS.
What's not affected
Deleting invalid domain name resolution data does not affect normal domain resolution with other DNS providers, your website or service remains fully functional. Domains registered with Alibaba Cloud are also not affected.
