Alibaba Cloud DNS:Transfer a domain name between Alibaba Cloud accounts without affecting DNS resolution

Limits

• This feature supports only Alibaba Cloud-registered domain names transferred between Alibaba Cloud accounts.

• You cannot directly transfer domain names between Alibaba Cloud China Website (www.aliyun.com) and Alibaba Cloud International Website (www.alibabacloud.com) accounts. Instead, Transfer a domain name out of Alibaba Cloud from the source account, obtain the transfer password, and Transfer a domain name into Alibaba Cloud using the destination account.

How transfers affect DNS records

Scenario	Impact
The domain name uses the Free Edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS	The DNS records are transferred with the domain name. DNS resolution is not affected.
The domain name uses a paid edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS	DNS records are not transferred to the destination account. The DNS records in the original account are not affected. To transfer them, retrieve the records in the destination account. Retrieve the domain name and its DNS records.
The domain name is used as a suffix for a CNAME Access Domain Name in Global Traffic Manager 3.0	DNS records are not transferred regardless of the DNS edition. Access domain name.
The domain name is used as a suffix for a CNAME Access Domain Name in an earlier version of Global Traffic Manager	DNS records transfer with the domain name, but Global Traffic Manager retains only the last active policy and loses failover capability. Subsequent policy changes do not take effect.

Procedure

1. Complete all checks, then transfer the domain name to another Alibaba Cloud account. Transfer a domain name to another Alibaba Cloud account.

2. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console with the destination account.

3. On the Authoritative Domain Names page, click Add Domain Name to retrieve DNS records. Retrieve DNS records.

   This procedure ensures that DNS resolution is not affected during the account transfer.
