When to use built-in storage: Choose built-in storage when you want minimal management overhead and strong data isolation. It is the simpler option for most workloads.

When to use OSS: Choose OSS when you need direct access to backup sets.

Built-in storage

Built-in storage requires no manual capacity configuration. Storage scales automatically based on the amount of data backed up, and you pay only for what you use.

For large backup volumes, subscription-based storage plans are more cost-effective than pay-as-you-go billing. Larger plans come with higher discounts. For plan details and pricing, see the Subscription-based storage plans section of the Storage fees topic.
