Pause or start a backup plan

If you do not need backups, you can pause the backup plan to save costs.

Pause a backup plan

Prerequisites

  • The backup plan is in the Running state.

  • The billing method of the backup plan is subscription.

Usage notes

Pausing a running backup plan does not affect the subscription period of the backup instance.

Warning

After a backup plan is paused, no new backup sets are generated.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DMS console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, choose Security and disaster recovery (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

    Note

    If you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the 2023-01-28_15-57-17.png icon in the upper-left corner of the DMS console and choose All Features > Security and disaster recovery (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

  3. Find the backup plan and choose More > > Pause in the Actions column.

  4. In the Pause Data Backup dialog box, select a pause option.

    • Pause only the backup plan without affecting currently running tasks.

    • Pause the backup plan and all associated full backup, incremental backup, and recovery tasks.

    Note

    Tasks in the Failed state remain in that state after you pause the backup plan.

  5. Click OK.

Start a backup plan

  1. Log on to the DMS console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, choose Security and disaster recovery (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

    Note

    If you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the 2023-01-28_15-57-17.png icon in the upper-left corner of the DMS console and choose All Features > Security and disaster recovery (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

  3. Find the backup plan and click Start in the Actions column.

  4. In the Resume Data Backup dialog box, select a resume option.

    • Resume only the backup plan without affecting currently paused tasks.

    • Resume the backup plan and all associated incremental backup tasks.

    Note

    Tasks in the Failed state remain in that state after you start the backup plan.

  5. Click OK.
